In which cases?

Pancreatic pseudocysts, where the needle gives the first puncture and the guidewire for the drainage devices that follow.
Pancreatic cysts that may become malignant, for fluid aspiration and cytology.
Intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts, the pancreatic duct, the cystic duct and the gallbladder.
Biliary obstruction that conventional ERCP cannot resolve: a 0.035″ guidewire is placed for rendezvous or for transmural drainage.

What makes it different?

The cannula lumen takes a 0.035″ guidewire, against 0.030″ on our 19G sampling needles, so the wire suits the devices advanced over it.
Trocar cut stylet; the manufacturer states it lowers puncture resistance at the first entry.
The cutting edge is on the stylet; the cannula tip itself is ground blunt, which the manufacturer states protects tissue and instruments.
A specially treated needle tip, which the manufacturer states lets the procedure be followed under ultrasound.
The puncture depth and the length are set on a scale and held by the rotating lock, which the manufacturer states gives precise access to the target tissue.

What is the access needle used for?

Its purpose is taking a sample, gaining access and injecting during endoscopic procedures, and its indications are cytological examination, biliary obstruction that conventional ERCP cannot reach, and pseudocysts and cysts that may degenerate. Its lumen takes a guidewire up to 0.035 inch, so the access step connects to the ERCP accessories.

Which working channel does it need?

The sheath outer diameter is 2.1 mm, and the working channel has to be at least 0.2 mm larger than the outer diameter of the device.
