A range of single-use guidewires used to maintain and direct access across biliary and pancreatic strictures during ERCP, in stainless steel and in Nitinol.

In which cases?

  • Access held in the duct while catheters, sphincterotomes and stents are exchanged.
  • A tight or tortuous biliary stricture crossed before anything else goes in.
  • A pancreatic pseudocyst reached under EUS with the cyst wire through a 19G needle.
  • A short-wire workflow with the 260 cm version.

What makes it different?

  • Two-colour shaft, so advance and withdrawal are read off the screen during the exchange.
  • A 5 cm hydrophilic tip, so the wire slides through a stricture.
  • Two Nitinol builds, High-Flex and Smart-Guide, so a stricture that resists one is tried with the other.
  • The flexible tip is followed under fluoroscopy.

Frequently asked questions

Stainless steel or Nitinol?

Both are supplied: three stainless steel models and three Nitinol ones. The Nitinol wires are kink resistant, which is what a tortuous duct asks for; the stainless steel family is the stiffer one.

Is there an MRI statement on the label?

On one of the six models, yes: its label carries an MR unsafe statement. The other five carry no MR statement at all, which is not the same as being safe. A wire is in any case removed at the end of the procedure.
