A safety cabinet for work with cytostatics and hazardous biological material. The width is chosen in 30 cm steps, and the third HEPA filter stage can be added later.
This page is intended for healthcare professionals.
The Shield Design brings form and function together. The manufacturer states that claire neo received the Red Dot Design Award 2024 and two iF Design Awards 2025, for product design and user interface.
Besides the LED light of the workspace, light bands at the sides and the illuminated window edge in the user's view show the operating state and alarms.
Swipe gestures work with gloves; 15 function keys are assigned by drag and drop; users log in with a code or an RFID chip.
It detects people moving near the work opening and the air disturbance they cause, and gives a clear warning.
A 22-inch monitor can be fitted into the back wall on site, later as well.
The first main filter stage is compact, so there is room for the legs even with 3 filters. The electric base frame moves the worktop between 725 and 1125 mm.
The airflow of claire neo leaves room for a third HEPA filter stage under the worktop. It can be ordered with the cabinet or fitted later.
Most safety cabinets follow HEPA filter sizes in feet, so their outer dimensions are fractional. claire neo is built in 30 cm steps at a standard depth of 800 mm: it lines up with laboratory furniture and digital room planning.
With the optional auto on/off function the cabinet notices that the user has left and shuts down in a controlled way. When the user comes back, ventilation and light switch on and the front window opens by itself.
Built in flush and liquid-tight, usable as a normal surface when off, powered from below by plug and play, switched on from the touch display; the user fits and removes them.
The manufacturer's figures. Moving from 2 to 3 filters needs no new cabinet, and the metric grid makes rearranging the room easier.
The large model of the same family, for laboratory robots, liquid handling systems, bioreactors and other bulky equipment. Several units join side by side into a containment line of several metres.

A cytotoxic (cytostatic) safety cabinet protects the person compounding, the drug and the room while hazardous drugs are prepared. In Germany its type is set by DIN 12980. The catalogue lists claire neo either as a biological safety cabinet to DIN EN 12469:2026 or as a cytostatic safety cabinet to DIN 12980:2017-05. For work with cytostatics the manufacturer calls the third HEPA filter stage useful or even necessary.
For claire neo the catalogue names the type of construction: DIN EN 12469:2026, the European standard for microbiological safety cabinets, or DIN 12980:2017-05. The larger claire neo XL of the same family is described there as a class II biological safety cabinet. The manufacturer states that both cabinets are already tested to the new DIN EN 12469:2026 and its stricter personnel, product and cross-contamination protection.
For compounding cytostatics the cabinet is ordered as a cytostatic safety cabinet with the 3-filter system. The width follows the room and the number of people working: 1200, 1500, 1800 or 2100 mm. A unit that starts with a 2-filter cabinet can have the third filter stage fitted on site later. SealSafe® Pro can stand next to the cabinet and seal the waste.
Both have a recirculation filter above the workspace and an exhaust filter on top. The 3-filter system adds a main filter stage under the worktop: the air drawn out of the workspace passes this filter first. All three are at least H14. On claire neo this stage is compact enough to keep the legroom and can be fitted later on site. The manufacturer states that filter replacement is particularly easy and selective with 3-filter systems.
Most safety cabinets, including Berner's own claire pro, follow HEPA filter sizes in feet, so their outer dimensions are fractional: a claire pro 130 is 1352 mm wide and 815 mm deep. claire neo is 1200, 1500, 1800 or 2100 mm wide and 800 mm deep. This 30 cm grid fits modern laboratory furniture and digital planning and makes later rearrangement easier.
Yes. On the standard base frame the worktop height is set between 650 and 1000 mm in 8 steps. On the electric base frame it moves infinitely between 725 and 1125 mm, so each user can set it for sitting or standing.
The catalogue gives 165 W in ECO mode and 236 W in GMP mode for the B-3-150, without extra consumers. EC fans, LED lighting and the touch display in dark mode keep it low. The optional Energy Save Mode dims light and display further, and the optional auto on/off function shuts the cabinet down in a controlled way when nobody is in front of it.

Yes. The manufacturer writes that safety cabinets need regular inspection and maintenance by certified service technicians to DIN EN 12469 and DIN 12980, for lasting staff and product protection and for legal compliance. The tests cover the HEPA filters, the inflow and downflow, the alarm limits and the electrical safety.
