Drug-Free and Non-Surgical Solution for Reflux: GERDx
GERDx is an endoscopic method that has been used worldwide for over 10 years in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Reflux is the pathological backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus. This occurs due to the weakening of the valve located where the esophagus meets the stomach, which normally prevents the backflow of stomach contents.

Treatment options are generally divided into three categories: medication, surgical methods, and endoscopic procedures.
• Medication usually provides temporary relief but does not offer a permanent cure.
• Surgical methods have a higher success rate compared to medication but involve risks such as general anesthesia and surgical wounds, which make them less preferred by patients.
• Among endoscopic treatments, laser techniques have a success rate of 40%-45%, while GERDx offers a success rate of up to 90%.

GERDx is a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure performed under anesthesia and takes approximately 45 minutes. During the procedure, the weakened valve that allows stomach acid to reflux is tightened using a stapling technique, preventing acid from flowing back into the esophagus.

Since GERDx is non-surgical, patients can usually return to their daily activities after approximately 6 hours of observation. Due to its high success rate and patient comfort, GERDx is one of the most preferred methods in Europe and the USA.
